CT College Student Faces Further Charges in New London Car Versus Scooter Incident
Police said a college student charged with hitting a scooter while driving under the influence now faces additional charges.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police said a college student charged with hitting a scooter while driving under the influence now faces additional charges.
New London police and fire personnel were previously dispatched to the area of Route 32 south on November 22, 2016, around 12:18 a.m. to investigate a car versus scooter accident with injuries.
The driver of the car, 19-year old Sophia Thielman, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The suspect was reported to be a Rye Brook, New York, resident and a student at Connecticut College, according to a release.

A subsequent investigation lead to additional charges being filed on Wednesday, April 5. Thielman was arrested by warrant on charges of assault with a motor vehicle, reckless driving and possession of marijuana.
A $150,000 cash surety bond was set by the court.
