District 10 (9-10) 07/03/13

Sadly our New London 9-10 All Star team was eliminated from this years tournament in a well played 8-3 loss to Waterford South. BUt in reaching the Semi-finals this years this is a team we can all be proud of. In arriving late I was able to see many great plays including 2 rocket arms showcasing themselves for all to see. In ending the 4th and 5th innings Chris Watrous, centerfielder, threw to Garrett Matson, 2nd baseman, and he in turn was able gun down 2 different Waterford South players attempting to score. Alejandro Santiago, the catcher was able to catch and cleanly tag both players out with ease. In making the last out of the 5th it was clear that confidence was clearly with these boys as Alejandro emphaticly rolled the ball back to the mound. These boys went from being up, at the start of thier game the other night against Mystic, to down thinking they were eliminated from play after pool play, to being back up again when they were told we were still alive. These boys played thier hearts out this year. In reaching the Semi-finals it was the farthest NL has gone since 2009, if I am not mistaken. I can see and expect great things from these players in the next few years. Now its up to the 10-11's, and 11-12's to bring home the banners that Waterford South is holding onto for us.
