Downtown New London Cafe Reopens Following Devastating Fire
The cafe reopened Wednesday after a fire last summer. The damage required the restaurant fully rebuild the basement.
NEW LONDON, CT â Muddy Waters Cafe will reopen its doors downtown on Wednesday. The coffee shop located at 42 Bank St. will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An August fire that occurred after business hours closed the restaurant down for months. No one was injured in the fire.
Damage from the blaze required a full rebuild of the restaurant's basement, including new coolers and freezers. The main service area was tweaked but will still be recognizable.

The fire was caused by an overheated extension cord that ran from an outlet to basement refrigerators, according to The Day of New London.
