Elderly Man Assaulted, Robbed In New London Parking Lot: PD

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said they are investigating after an elderly man was assaulted and his car was stolen Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Walgreens Pharmacy on Bank Street.

According to a news release, officers responded to the parking lot at approximately 3:11 p.m. after receiving a report of an elderly man having been assaulted and robbed. Officers subsequently located the man,

who appeared to be bleeding from his head.

Police said it was determined the victim sustained a laceration on his head during the strong arm robbery of
his red 2001 Mercury Sable (New Mexico registered, 639-MMY).

According to police, the suspect is described as a white man in his 30’s or 40’s, who is approximately six-feet tall with a large build and was wearing gray shorts, a dark colored hoodie and a baseball cap.

The victim was subsequently transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. The victim’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening at time of incident, police said.
