"Going Organic: A Widening Circle"

Guest speaker, Mary Taylor Simeti, has been living in Sicily for almost fifty years, and for almost thirty she has been writing about rural life on the island, and about how food is produced and consumed there. A casual choice, made in the 1980's, to apply organic methods of cultivation on the family farm - a choice considered odd, even outlandish at the time - has over the years brought Simeti and her family into a movement that has evolved from small and local to big and global, a movement that offers serious answers to problems of famine and climate change, 4:30 p.m., Charles E.
