Fill The Spot: 357 Bank Street

This first floor space is probably one of the most eye-catching facades on Bank Street. Unfortunately, there's nothing there at the moment to draw in any visitors.

The building at 357 Bank Street was built in 1900, according to city records, and includes apartments over a 1,824 square foot business space. It was last purchased by Gesi LLC of Barre, Mass., in 2008. In the windows alongside the prominent circular entryway, a sign invites people to rent both an apartment and restaurant space.

A few eateries have made a go of it in the space, including the New Leaf Chinese Restaurant and The International Restaurant. Back around the turn of the century, however, it held retail shops including The New London Cash Shoe Store and The Emporium (selling "summer merchandise").
