Fill The Spot: A Truman Street Spot Filled?
Application filed for a place featured in a former column

One of the vacancies featured in a past Fill The Spot may be getting some new life this spring.
Shelly Briscoe, land use assistant with the Office of Development and Planning, said an application has been filed to open a new store in one of the two empty storefronts at 92 Truman Street. Last month, we asked and got a suggestion that it could be a space for the New London Green Party or Friends of Riverside Conservancy. Michelle Johnson, the zoning and wetlands enforcement officer at the , said the building is in the and such a use would be permitted.
However, the application filled out on March 30 by Wisam Said hearkens back to some of the former uses of the storefronts. He's proposing a business called Bargain Plus to sell new and used clothing and household items at wholesale and discount prices. The store would be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. Briscoe says Said hopes to open the store in May or June.
