Oil prices continue to drift back down as officials from Iran, the United States, and several other countries discussed the Iranian nuclear program over the weekend at an Instanbul conference, according to the Associated Press. However, the agency also reports that while gas prices have leveled for now, they're expected to climb again by the summer's unofficial start on Memorial Day. Bloomberg reports that a Nigerian rebel group has also threatened to target pipelines and oil facilities, actions which have previously had an effect on the country's output. Here in the U.S., the Washington Post reports that Republicans in Congress will submit several proposals related to energy policy, including a highway bill with mandatory approval of the Keystone pipeline and freezing regulations on oil refineries.

Gas prices crept back up in Connecticut after remaining stable last week, with the average price for a gallon of regular grade going up two cents since Friday to $4.16. The national average also went up, rising a penny to $3.90. That average is also the cheapest reported price in the state, availalbe at a Stop & Shop in Wallingford.

Since Friday, the cheapest available price in New London has gone up four cents to $4.07. This price is available at 7-Eleven on Broad Street and for cash payments at the Ravi across the street. The Shell on Ocean Ave. has a price of $4.13, and you're most likely to find a price of $4.15 elsewhere around town.

Groton prices start at $4.16, available at the Hess on Route 12. This price is followed by $4.19 at the Citgo on Fort Hill Road and Cory's on Route 12 and $4.20 at the Gulf on Mitchell Street. Waterford has the region's lowest price with $4.06 at BJ's on Cross Road, with $4.09 available at the Bestway, Hess, and Mobil stations on Boston Post Road.
