Fuel Report

The fuel report earlier this week had some talk of a possible peak in gas prices, and CNN Money's analysis on Friday agrees that might be the case. They credit negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program, the reversal of flow in a Midwest pipeline, and a weakened fuel demand among its reasons. The Telegraph says the International Energy Agency is also forecasting a stabilization due to more available supplies and less demand. Here in Connecticut, Sen. Richard Blumenthal criticized subsidies to oil companies, saying they help harm small gasoline retailers.

The averages reported by ConnecticutGasPrices.com reflect the possible stabilization, as the average price for a gallon of regular grade gasoline in the state has stayed at $4.14 since Monday. The national average, meanwhile, fell two cents to $3.89. The cheapest reported station in the state as of Friday afternoon was a Mercury in West Haven with a price of $3.84.

The cheapest available price in New London remains $4.03, available for cash payments at the on Broad Street. Across the street, posts a price of $4.07 while a ways up the road has $4.13 fuel available for cash payments. The , , and stations on Williams Street all post a price of $4.15.

In Groton, prices start at $4.09 at the Citgo on the Gold Star Highway and for cash payments at Cory's on Route 12. The next cheapest option is $4.16 at the Hess on Route 12. Waterford has $4.03 gasoline available at BJ's on Cross Road. Bestway on Boston Post Road has the next cheapest option at $4.09, while the Henny Penny on Boston Post Road and Shell on the Hartford-New London Turnpike each have $4.13 posted.
