Oil prices dropped slightly over the weekend as a standoff over Iran's nuclear program remains unresolved but demand in the United States and China has decreased, according to the Economic Times. Exports from Iran have dropped significantly, though Reuters reports that South Sudan may eventually make up some of that difference. Senior White House adviser David Plouffe has said tapping the strategic petroleum reserve to relieve high gas prices is an option, although many factors would go into such a decision. And Gov. Dannel Malloy is in Arlington today to attend the Transportation Energy Partnership’s 2012 Energy Independence Summit to "discuss clean energy solutions and how the state and municipalities can partner to improve the state’s clean fuel infrastructure and increase clean fuel vehicle capacity."

According to ConnecticutGasPrices.com, the average price for a gallon of regular grade gasoline went up another two cents over the weekend in Connecticut, rising to $4.05, while the national average remained steady at $3.86. The cheapest reported station in the state remains a Costco in Enfield, although this price rose from $3.79 on Friday to $3.85 on Monday.

In New London, the cheapest reported price remains $3.93, available at the on Montauk Ave. Prices then jump to $3.99, posted at the and on Broad Street; the latter station's price is for cash payments only. After that, you're most likely to see $4.03 at several stations around town.

Groton starts off at $3.95, available for cash payments at the Citgo on Gold Star Highway. The next cheapest option is $4.03 at the Shell on Fort Hill Road and Gulf on Mitchell Street. In Waterford, BJ's on Cross Road has $3.96 gas. This is followed by $4 at Mobil and $4.03 at Henny Penny and Sunoco, all on Boston Post Road.
