
Oil prices dropped over the weekend as economic reports continued to point in different directions. The Christian Science Monitor says signs of contracting growth in China and Europe is contributing to the decline, but that there won't be a major effect unless there is a similarly major shock to the countries' economies. Bloomberg says shrinking demand in China is helping ease prices from a three-day high. When it comes to Connecticut, the Hartford Courant says gas prices in the state appear to be trending down about a quarter shy of the $4.39 high reached in July of 2008.
According to ConnecticutGasPrices.com, both the national and state averages for a gallon of regular grade gasoline declined slightly over the weekend. The national average went down two cents to $3.85 while the state average dropped a penny to $4.12. The cheapest reported station in the state as of Monday morning was a Citgo in Terryville with $3.90.
Gas prices in New London start at $4.07, available for cash payments at the on Broad Street. You can also get a gallon for $4.09 at the and on Broad Street (the latter station for cash only) as well as the on Bank Street and on Ocean Ave.

Groton prices start at $4.08, available at the Gulf on Mitchell Street. This is followed by $4.09 at the Citgo on Poquonnock Road and $4.15 at the Citgo on Fort Hill Road and Hess on Route 12. Waterford's prices have seen a nice dip, with the cheapest option of $4.04 available at the Mobil on Boston Post Road. There is also $4.05 at the BJ's on Cross Road and $4.06 at both the Bestway and Hess stations on Boston Post Road.
