The oil market continues to be a supply and demand game, with plentiful supplies and a reduced demand resulting from an economic slowdown continuing to drive prices down, according to The Telegraph; the newspaper says successful negotiations with Iran could also make the commodity a little cheaper. Tensions remain there, however, with the Washington Post reporting that Iran is dealing with the reduced oil exports by switching off satellite tracking systems and looking for open ports.
There are mixed reports on oil's effect on the United States presidential election. The Albany Times Union says an Associate Press poll notes an increasing percentage of people are dissatisfied with President Barack Obama's handling of gas prices. However, BusinessWeek says a Bloomberg poll shows more people consider oil companies and Middle Eastern nations to be at fault for high prices, and that falling gas prices have made this a smaller issue in the election.
