Fugitive From Justice Charged With Sexual Assault

A 53-year-old man is charged with sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in New London.

A 53-year-old man living in Virginia is being held as a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Connecticut on charges of sexual assault in the first degree and risk of injury to a minor.

According to New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard, police received a complaint of a sexual assault on a 12-year-old female in New London.

An investigation was conducted by the New London Police Department’s Detective Division, the New London County Child Advocacy Center and the Department of Children and Families.

That investigation revealed that Willie J. Rollins, 53, had allegedly sexually assaulted the victim. Police said Rollins was known to the victim.

“Detectives were able to locate DNA evidence which linked Rollins with the victim,” Reichard said.

An arrest warrant application was submitted and signed by the state of Connecticut Superior Court in New London.

Rollins had left Connecticut and was residing in Virginia, Reichard said. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshall’s Office after he was located in Chesapeake, Va.
