My new favorite band is a group of four talented musicians named, "Houndmouth" ( Katie Toupin, Matt Myers, Shane Cody and Zak Appleby). They hale from Indiana and have an old, roots sound that has been compared to "The Band". Their debut album, "From the Hills Beyond the City" was recently released in June. The single, "On the Road" has been getting airplay locally on 96.9 and 90.9. They also performed on Conan and he has great taste in music.
All four share in vocals and harmony. Their voices dance around each other, sometimes quickly, sometimes, slowly. "Houndmouth" was invited this summer to play at some of the big music festivals, Newport Folk and Lollapalooza in Chicago, Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits. They feel that, "They have arrived!!"
Other great songs on the album are "Penitentiary" and "Krampus". Check them out and let me know what you think! I'd also be interested in what's on your playlist this week! Peace and Love, Mo
