Ledge Light Offering Free Flu Shots For Ages 15 & Up

While the Wuhan, China coronavirus is a worry, more people in the US will likely die from the flu than it, health officials say.

NEW LONDON, CT — Many people are worried about the coronavirus that originated in Wuhan, China. But Ledge Light Health District says that "more people in this country will likely die from the flu than the novel coronavirus."

In a press release from the community health district, it was noted that as it is, "the flu is widespread and not going away anytime soon. The flu is nothing to sneeze at! If you are lucky, you just spend a few days in bed feeling like you got hit by a truck. Unfortunately, the flu can lead to pneumonia and other complications, including death. It isn’t too late to get your flu shot."

Ledge Light is giving free flu shots for people 15 years and up Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon at its 216 Broad St., New London office. There will also be free flu clinics on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Groton Municipal Building, located at 295 Meridian St., and on Friday, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon and again from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the New London office.

Flu shots will be offered to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Must be 15 years or older. An adult must accompany children under 18 years old. A flu consent form is required from each participant. Forms can be downloaded from www.llhd.org or obtained at the clinic. Any questions, please call 860-448-4882.
