NEW LONDON, CT — Every Tuesday morning this summer, Levi Chappelle, 5, will be out on the streets of New London with his crew. His clean-up crew, that is. And he could use a little help.

On his 'Levi's Clean Up Crew' Facebook page, it's learned that the boy "loves all wildlife and especially the ocean." And it was after watching "videos about how trash and litter is destroying our oceans and world," the preschooler was soon"passionate about cleaning up his little corner of the world."

Levi will be out in the community, with family of course, in a different location every week and he hopes others will join him.

"This summer we will be out every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. in a different location. Please join us every or any week you would like. The next area will be posted soon," the invite read on the Facebook page. And he asked for ideas and suggestions. And donations.

"If you have any ideas of areas that need some attention please let us know to be included. If any one has any old buckets, yard gloves, bags (preferably environmentally safe) or anything that would be useful donations are welcome."

New London police were so moved by the young boy's efforts the department featured him on its social media announcing, "You got caught doing something right!"

And his mother Jordan Chappelle posted to Facebook asking for folks to join in.

"Levi has seen some videos about the damage that trash has done to our world and was very upset about it. So we have decided that we are going to clean up our little piece of the world," she wrote adding that if people had "any old kids garden gloves, bags and trash picker-uppers/grabbers, donations are accepted."

She said on behalf of Levi, "Thank you all for the amazing support of cleaning up our corner of the world."

As little Levi's big idea takes off, celebs are getting in on the act and lending their time and names to the cause. Like Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Tuzar Skipper.
