Thanks to all of you for making RN Wednesday such a popular feature. We’re thrilled to introduce you each week to nurses on our staff that go above and beyond for our patients.
This week, that’s no different. Meet Heidi Schilke, who has been at L+M since 1988, when she began as a student nurse. Today, Heidi works in the Cancer Center, where she considers it “an honor” to help patients and families who are “on a journey they did not choose.”
Patients fighting cancer offer new perspectives and insights “on what really matters in life,” Schilke says. “As an oncology nurse, I have the opportunity to provide education, treatment, symptom management, to hold a hand or provide a listening ear, each and every day.”
