Local Business “Jewels for Hope” is going to this year’s Golden Globes By Christopher Annino

Jewels for Hope are a mother daughter business which manufactures fashionable yet affordable jewelry. The small business donates part of their proceeds to various charitable organizations. ”My mom Sandy began it while she was taking care of my grandmother who had Parkinson’s. When she had free time she would create various different types of jewelry. Hospice would come every day and because hospice was so kind and caring she would donate a portion of the proceeds she would make off of the jewelry to them” said Stevie. Sandy’s daughter Stevie Lynn had gotten very sick and wasn’t allowed to work for a while during that time both Sandy and Stevie perfected the craft of making jewelry. As a result Jewels for Hope was born.
Jewels for Hope began in 2009 and so far they have donated money to over 25 charities. Some Connecticut based charities that they work with are Caroline’s Room, Ann Nyberg Toy Closet program, Terrie Brodeur Breast Cancer, Give to the Troops, and Operation Music aide. Since its beginning in 2009 they have donated thousands and thousands of dollars to various charitable organizations.
Some celebrities who have been spotted wearing their jewelry are Tim Daly, Jason Issacs , Stacey London, Cloris Leachman, Meredith Vieira, Roshon Fegan, and Jennifer Love Hewitt. This year Jewels for Hope will be featured at the Golden Globes gift lounge. “I’m going with the artisan group.org they helped our product to get there. They are a group for handmade artists. They are really a great group and I am excited to be going with the owner.” The dream for this business is to one day is featured in Macy’s catalog. These are some of the colors and other charities that they donate to. For more information go to http://www.jewelsforhope.net
