MA Man Accused Of Shooting Norwich Woman Shoots Self: DA

A Massachusetts man suspected in the fatal shooting of a Norwich woman was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

NORWICH, CT — A Massachusetts man accused in the shooting death of a 22-year-old Norwich woman was found with an "apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.

He was transported to a Boston hospital where remains for treatment.

The shooting was reported Friday at 12:22 a.m., when Brockton, Massachusetts police said they received a 911 call for a report of a shooting on Nason Street.

The woman, Stephanie Beatty, of Norwich, was found dead inside a parked car with a gunshot wound, officials said.

Investigators charged Gelson Fernandez, 29, of Brockton, in connection with Beatty's death. As of Friday, he remained at large.
