Man Charged In 2 New London Sexual Assault Cases Arrested: PD

New London police said a man charged in two sexual assault cases has been arrested.

NEW LONDON, CT - New London police said a man charged in two sexual assault cases in the city has been arrested. Officers arrested the suspect, 34-year-old Monte White, following an extensive investigation into the two incidents, police said.

The arrest was made in collaboration with Waterford Police and the State’s Attorney’s office, according to a release.

Police said one of the reported incidents occurred on October 29, during which a female victim was sexually assaulted at a large apartment complex on Hawthorne Drive. The victim reported the suspect entered her home, threatened her with a firearm and sexually assaulted her, police said.

Police said the second reported incident occurred on November 29, during which a female victim was sexually assaulted at a large apartment complex on Nautilus Drive. The victim also reported the suspect having entered her home and threatened her with a firearm before sexually assaulting her, police said.

Police said DNA evidence linked White to both sexual assault cases. He was also found to be a suspect in a residential burglary in Waterford, police said.

The suspect was also under investigation for the illegal trafficking of narcotics in the New London/Waterford area, police said.

Police said White was arrested Friday, Dec. 1, in New London. At the time of his arrest, police also found White’s DNA profile matched that from a sexual assault investigation being conducted by police in Torrington in April, police said.

Police said the suspect has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, home invasion and risk of injury to a minor. He remains in custody on a $750,000 cash-surety bond and will be arraigned on those charges, police said.
