Man Who Made Bathroom Videos At CT College, East Lyme Beach Gets Prison Time

A man who was accused of using hidden cameras to record women in bathrooms pleaded guilty, according to a report.

NEW LONDON, CT — A man who was accused of using hidden cameras to record women in bathrooms at Connecticut College and an East Lyme beach club is expected to serve three years in prison, The Day of New London reported.

Nicholas Spellman of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of child pornography and two counts of voyeurism, both felonies.

Part of the plea agreement Spellman signed stipulated that he will be sentenced in May to 14 years in prison, suspended after three years, followed by 15 years probation. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.

In 2020, Spellman was charged after a reported incident of voyeurism in a dormitory bathroom at Connecticut College in New London. He was a student at the college at the time.

Then in 2022, Spellman was accused of placing a video recording device in the bathroom of an East Lyme private beach club where he was employed.

Police conducted interviews of victims and witnesses in multiple states, and were able to identify 13 victims who were unknowingly photographed.
