Man Sentenced in New London to Four and Half Years After Two Arrests in Two Weeks

The man was arrested for selling narcotics twice within a two week span last year.

NEW LONDON, CT- An area man who was arrested twice in July 2015 within two weeks was sentenced Monday to 4 ½ years in prison, The Day reported.

Matthew Branch, 28, pleaded guilty to possessing and intending to sell narcotics, as well as criminal possession of a firearm, according to The Day. He was arrested a year ago for selling pills out of a Super 8 in Groton, then again with two weeks for selling drugs in Preston and violating his probation by possessing a revolver he claimed to have bought from a Mystic woman.

Branch was sentenced to 12 years in prison, suspended after 4 ½, and an additional four years probation, The Day reported. He will also undergo substance abuse treatment if deemed necessary during his probationary period.
