Memorial Service for Homeless Held in New London

It was an opportunity for some to grieve for and remember those they lost this year.

Friends and family turned out Monday in New London to remember people who died during 2015 who were homeless or who helped the homeless.

The Day reported the memorial service was sponsored by the St. Francis House and the New London Homeless Hospitality Center and was held at the Church of the City in New London.

Among those remembered were Episcopal priest Emmett Jarrett, who helped organize the hospitality center, and Anthony Sanquedolce, who died last week near the center’s State Pier Road building.

Organizers said the service was an outlet for members of the homeless community who might not otherwise have a chance to grieve for friends they’ve lost.
