New London Apartment Kitchen Fire Displaces Family of Five: UPDATE

NEW LONDON, CT – Firefighters were able to quickly put out an apartment building fire Thursday night on Blackhall Street that officials said started as kitchen fire, as reported by The Day.

No injuries were reported, however a family of five was displaced by the fire, according to The Day. The Red Cross was expected to report to the scene and assist them.

Fire and heavy smoke was visible from the third floor when firefighters arrived, The Day reported. Officials said residents of the third floor apartment were cooking close to 8:30 p.m. and forgot about the food.
