New London Blue Lives Matter Rally Delayed by Anti-Police Groups

NEW LONDON, CT -- A Blue Lives Matter rally scheduled for Thursday has been postponed due to recent backlash, The Day reported.

The event was meant to be a non-confrontational event to support and express gratitude to the police in the wake of recent acts of violence, according to The Day. After the announcement on Monday by rally organizer and American Liberty Center founder Lori Hopkins-Cavanagh, however, her Facebook page was flooded with negative and inflammatory comments.

Though she did not cite specific groups, Hopkins-Cavanagh said they were anti-police, according to The Day. She also said the American Liberty Center hopes to reorganize and hold the event at a later date.
