New London Building Officials to Examine Winthrop Boulevard Parking Garage
An inspection was determined necessary when the owner filed for a building permit for work done a year ago.

NEW LONDON, CT – The city said work on a parking garage was done without a building permit a year ago, The Day reported.
The owner of the parking garage on Governor Winthrop Boulevard filed for a building permit Tuesday for work that was already done a year ago, according to The Day. William Cornish was then asked to file for the permit retroactively to ensure the garage’s safety.
Cornish will hire a structural engineer to ensure the work is done, but also examine the entire structure’s integrity, The Day reported. City building officials have the authority to condemn the garage if an inspection turns up any safety concerns.
