New London Firefighters Rescue Man After Fall from Pier

The man was not fully coherent, making it a challenge to get him ashore.

NEW LONDON, CT- Firefighters rescued a man from the water after apparently falling from Custom House Pier, The Day reported.

A partially incoherent man was found holding onto one of piles below the Waterfront Park walkway close to 2 p.m. on Thursday, according to The Day. Firefighters reached him using inflatable boats, then struggled to pull him to shore.

He was placed in a rescue basket and brought up a ladder to the shore, The Day reported. The man was then transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital to be treated.
