New London To Hold Public Information Forum On PAYT System

New London officials will hold a public information forum concerning a proposed Pay As You Throw (PAYT) trash collection system.

NEW LONDON, CT — New London officials will hold a public information forum Wednesday, Jan. 17, to explain how a Pay As You Throw (PAYT) trash collection system works, including its potential to reduce trash and disposal costs for the City. The forum will take place at the Science and Technology Magnet High School Lecture Hall at 6 p.m.,

In February 2017, the City Council gave its approval for city officials to apply for two grants from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to pay for a study of a PAYT system and its potential implementation.

The city was subsequently awarded $54,000 in grants from DEEP in September. At a future meeting, the City Council will consider approving use of the grant funds.
