New London Hospital Has One Month Left Until Absorption Proposal Becomes Costly
Lawrence + Memorial Hospital has proposed an absorption into the Yale-New Haven Health System.

NEW LONDON, CT – An absorption of the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital into the Yale-New Haven Health System will face costly new regulatory filings if not approved by next month, The Day reported.
If action is not taken by state regulators by Sept. 8, the process of filing with the Federal Trade Commission would need to be restarted, according to The Day. The re-filings in questions could cost $250,000.
In the past few years, the hospital has cut $35 million in spending and eliminated close to 150 positions, yet budget problems have continued, The Day reported. The absorption would lower costs by integrating back-office functions, and bring other benefits with it as well.
