New London To Host Veteran Resource Fair

All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend and get the latest information from various Veteran Service Organizations.

NEW LONDON, CT — The Public Library of New London and New London Veterans Affairs have partnered in conducting their first annual “Veteran Resource Fair.” The event will be held in the community room at the library on June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

According to a news release, all veterans and active duty military are invited to attend and get the latest information from various Veteran Service Organizations in attendance.

In other matters, New London Veteran Affairs is urging all area veterans to register with the Veterans Administration. Veterans are not automatically registered with the VA for benefits just because they
served.

Veterans must register to learn what VA benefits they qualify for, and are advised not to wait until a service connected illness or injury requires them to seek the services of the VA. Call New London Veterans Affairs at (860) 440-6691 to set up an appointment to review your eligibility for benefits.

NLVA is located on the third floor in New London City Hall.

On Aug. 18, New London Veterans Affairs will be conducting a Connecticut Wartime Medal Ceremony. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Veterans Free Day at Ocean Beach Park.

To qualify for the medal, Veterans are required to have served during a wartime period, received an honorable discharge and have been a resident of Connecticut during the period served.
