New London Man Charged With Murder Turns Down Plea Deal

If convicted, he could face up 60 years in prison.

A man charged with murder has rejected the state’s offer for a reduced punishment if he were to plead guilty and serve a 15 year sentence, The Day reported.

If found guilty, Sebastian Tzampop could face up to 60 years in prison, according to The Day. He has been incarcerated since he allegedly admitted fatally beating and strangling his housemate on Christmas Day in 2013, Antonio Chajon.

The case has now been added to trial list following Tzampop’s rejection and will reportedly go to trial by the fall, according to The Day. The plea offer was based on the fact that both men seemed to be intoxicated at the time and the effect it may have had on his intent to kill Chajon.
