NEW LONDON, CT — Nurses at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London have raised over $11,000 for a sick colleague, the New London Day reported. Cheryl Cone was diagnosed with uterine cancer in August, and is currently unable to work as she undergoes chemotherapy.

In an effort to help her out, other nurses at the hospital put together a raffle and raised more than $11,000 for Cone, according to the New London Day. Cone was touched by the generosity and care displayed by her fellow nurses, and currently hopes to return to work in the spring.
