New London Nursing Home Fined In Incident

A New London facility has been fined by the state after a patient was injured last year.

NEW LONDON, CT - A New London nursing home has been fined$6,120 by the state Department of Public Health after a resident fell from a wheelchair and suffered a head laceration, according to Connecticut Health I-Team.

The resident was a dementia patient at risk for falling. The Aug. 11, 2018, incident occurred when a a nurse was transporting the patient in a wheelchair but did not use required leg rests.

The resident was treated and received two sutures, Connecticut Health I-Team reported.

Beechwood President and Administrator Bill White defended the facility's record, saying that it's received repeated five-star ratings and that this isolated incident has been immediately corrected.
