New London Physician Arrested on Sexual Assault Charges

New London Police arrested Glenn Giarratana, 58, of 22 Genesee Lane, Madison, on charges of sexual assault in the fourth degree, on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

On or around June 9 of this year, New London Police detectives received a complaint from a woman who alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by a Hartford Dispensary physician.

Hartford Dispensary is located at 961 Bank St., New London.

According to Deputy Chief Peter Reichard, the victim said she was at the Hartford Dispensary for a yearly physical and was left alone with Giarratana after meeting with a nurse.

The victim told police Giarratana subjected her to sexual contact without her consent. She then left the examination room and immediately reported the alleged incident to a nurse, police said.

Detectives conducted several interviews with Giarratana, Hartford Dispensary employees and other physicians.

An arrest warrant was issued, Giarratana turned himself into New London Police headquarters and was released on a $25,000 court-set bond.

According to Vitals, a website where patients can review doctors, Giarratana was rated by two patients. He received an overall score of 2.5 out of four stars.

The only comment written with one of the reviews was: “Dr. Glenn Giarratana was an excellent doctor. he was very knowledgable and diagnosed my issue with expertise.”

On UCompareHealthCare, Giarratana had one review and was given a rating of 1.5 stars. On HealthGrades.com and RateMDs.com, Giarratana had not received any reviews as of press time.
