New London Residents Deliver Over 900 Pizzas to Navy Destroyer Crew
The sailors were aboard the USS Truxtun docked at Fort Trumbull.

NEW LONDON, CT – Three residents delivered 920 pieces of pizza to Navy sailors Monday, The Day reported.
The sailors were aboard the USS Truxtun, a Navy destroyer docked at Fort Trumbull for the duration of Tropical Storm Hermine, according to The Day. Glenn Hammler, Reid Burdick and his son Jason Burdick worked out a special deal with Empire Pizza for the food.
The cost was picked up by Burdick and Hamler, and defrayed with donations to the New London Rotary Club and VFW, The Day reported. The group wanted to do something nice for the sailors as a way of saying thanks for serving the country and keeping everyone safe.
