OSHA Investigates New London Police Department Building Concerns

Police officials said CONN-OSHA is investigating concerns caused by leaks at the New London Police Department building.

NEW LONDON, CT — The state Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating concerns over mold and air quality at the New London Police Department due to leaks, according to media reports. Police officials said the building is over three decades old, and its roof has needed repairs several times.

Chief Peter Reichard said leaks have been an ongoing problem in the building for several years, and recent heavy rain has only made them worse, News 8 reported. Police said a shift commander's office was recently damaged by the water.

Due to their concerns, the department contacted CONN-OSHA and requested a health and safety consultation, NBC Connecticut reported. Officials said CONN-OSHA representatives were in the building last Friday and Monday.
