Pedestrian Hit, Pinned Under Car, Driver Charged With DUI
Cops say an impaired driver hit a pedestrian on Bayonet Street Tuesday night. The person, pinned under the car, is in critical condition.
NEW LONDON, CT—Tuesday night a driver hit a pedestrian on Bayonet Street pinning that person under the car, police said.
Police have charged the driver with driving under the influence. Reports indicated at around 10:30 p.m., that the driver was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived, but survived given police have charged Michael Meare, 37, of 171 Montauk Ave., New London with DUI.
The incident occurred on Bayonet Street near the entrance/exit of the New London Mall . Police confirmed the pedestrian was initially pinned underneath the car. That person is hospitalized and listed in critical condition, police said.
