Plans to Demolish Bank Street Buildings Face Opposition in New London
Plans to demolish two buildings on Bank Street in New London are currently facing growing opposition.

NEW LONDON, CT - Plans to demolish two buildings on Bank Street are currently facing growing opposition, the New London Day reported. Both properties are owned by William Cornish.
New London Landmarks is leading an effort to save and preserve 116 and 130 Bank Street, according to the New London Day. The nonprofit historic preservation group has already collected more than 650 signatures on a petition in less than a week. (To sign up for New London breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
Cornish said he plans to replace the structures with new buildings and is gearing up for a battle, the New London Day reported. The city’s Historic District and Design Review Board has already voted to delay Cornish’s plans to demolish 130 Bank Street, and will considering a delay on 116.
