Police Chase Ended With Arrest Of Man Charged With Kidnapping
Derek Lopez, 32, ran from police and a brief chase followed. He's being held on $750,000 bond for kidnapping, assault and other felonies.

NEW LONDON, CT —After a brief chase Thursday afternoon, police charged a 32-year-old man with kidnapping, assault and being an accessory to a sexual assault.
Derek Lopez, 32, was wanted on a warrant for a number of felonies. Police were trying to arrest him when he took off and officers gave chase.
Lopez, of 92 Truman St., apt. 5, New London, was arrested after the pursuit in the area of Jefferson Avenue, Broad Street, West High Street and Redden Avenue. He was charged with first=degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, first degree accessory to aggravated sexual assault, first degree reckless endangerment, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, criminal possession of a firearm, and criminal use of a firearm. He's being held on $750,000 bond.

Police said that once the chase ended, Lopez was "taken into custody without further incident" and no one was hurt.
