Police Release Identity of New London Stabbing Victim

BREAKING: Police say they have identified the victim of a weekend stabbing in New London.

NEW LONDON, CT - Police have identified the victim of a Montauk Avenue apartment assault on Sunday as Leonard Fraiter, 48, of New London.

Fraiter is still hospitalized at Yale New Haven Hospital. The investigation remains ongoing.

Police said at 7:42 p.m. officers responded to 200 Montauk Avenue for a disturbance involving a stabbing. Immediately upon arrival on scene, officers located a male, later identified as Terry Pipkin, 51, with traces of blood on his person attempting to leave the location, police said.

As a result, Pipkin was detained by officers for investigative purposes, police said. Inside the apartment, officers located Fraiter with severe lacerations in the area of his face, neck, and stomach, police said.

Fraiter was immediately transported to L&M Hospital for medical treatment. Detectives responded to the location to collect evidence, process the scene, and conduct interviews, police said. Fraiter was subsequently transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further emergency medical treatment and listed in serious condition, police said.

Pipkin of no certain address was arrested and charged as follows: first-degree assault and carrying a dangerous weapon.
