Popular New London Cafe To Reopen Months After Fire: Report
A downtown cafe that was closed after a fire damaged the business in August plans to reopen soon.
NEW LONDON, CT — A downtown coffee shop damaged in a fire over the summer will reopen in the coming weeks, The Day reported. The owner of Muddy Waters Cafe at 40 Bank St. in New London said the establishment will open this month following delivery of equipment.
An August fire that occurred after business hours closed the restaurant down for months. No one was injured in the fire.
On Aug. 30, the cafe's owners thanked customers on their Facebook page for showing their support.

Damage from the blaze required a full rebuild of the restaurant's basement, including new coolers and freezers. The main service area was tweaked but will still be recognizable.

The fire was caused by an overheated extension cord that ran from an outlet to basement refrigerators, according to The Day.
