Potential 'Racial Incident' Investigated By Coast Guard Academy
Coast Guard Academy officials said they are investigating a potential 'racial incident' involving two cadets.

NEW LONDON, CT — Coast Guard Academy officials said they are investigating a potential 'racial incident' involving two cadets, the New London Day reported. The incident is being criminally investigated by the academy and the Coast Guard Investigative Service.
The incident allegedly involved an unidentified white cadet entering the room of an unidentified African-American cadet and playing a song the other cadet believed to be racist, according to the New London Day. The unidentified song was said to have romanticized a world in which the South won the Civil War.
The African-American cadet said he left his room during the incident to discuss it with a diversity peer educator, the New London Day reported. When he returned, he found his laptop's background screen had been changed to a picture of a flag that included the design of the Confederate flag, according to the cadet.
