Missing Cider Jug Comes Back to B.F. Clyde's Cider Mill
A precious family heirloom went missing and was found at a nearby winery. The family expressed gratitude to the community for its support.

The family-run B.F. Clyde’s Cider Mill - Mystic CT family was sad to see that one of their stoneware jugs was missing from its hook. The jug belonged to their grandmother, who had fallen in love with stoneware crocks and jugs.
Over the years, a collection started to grow.
“The word got out that she loved them and if you brought an old jug or crock to the cider mill you could get a free gallon of hard cider,” the Old Mystic cider mill posted on Facebook Monday, Sept 21. “That is how every single jug and crock in our mill was acquired.”

The family took to Facebook to share the history of the jug and also to send a message to whomever took it:
“I hope you are very proud of yourself because today you stole a part of our family history, not just a jug,” the family wrote. “We cant even bring ourselves to tell my grandmother one of her jugs has been stolen because after losing my grandfather, all of those jugs are part of memories that mean so much to her and it would break her heart.”

In a joyful Facebook post Tuesday, Sept. 22, the cider mill family said the stoneware jug is back in its rightful place:
“Thanks to all of our wonderful Facebook friends who have shared and viewed our post over 100,000 times, our jug has been returned. We got a call from a young man named Justin at Jonathan Edwards Winery about noon that they think they found our jug. One of the workers found it this morning they brought it inside wondering where it came from. Finally someone said that Clyde’s was missing a jug so they gave us a call.”
The family wants to thank everyone in the community for their help.
“We have been very blessed with some of the best customers and fans that we could ever ask for,” the family wrote. “All of your heartfelt replies to our post have touched us all. Thanks to all of you, our jug is home.”
