Small Nursing Home Fire Contained, Residents Evacuated
About 10 nursing home residents were evacuated after a small electrical fire broke out at the facility.
NEW LONDON, CT - About 10 New London nursing home residents were evacuated from their wing after a small electrical fire broke out Monday, the New London Day reported. The flames were quickly contained before firefighters arrived on the scene.
The fire occurred around 11:49 a.m. at Harbor Village North Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, according to the New London Day. ( To sign up for New London breaking news alerts and more, click here. )
Firefighters were alerted after a resident noticed smoke coming up from an outlet, the New London Day reported. The resident notified the nursing home staff, who quickly extinguished the fire.
