State Approves $344K Grant For New London Chamber Of Commerce HQ

The State Bond Commission has approved the final round of funds for the Chamber of Commerce's new headquarters and innovation center.

NEW LONDON, CT — The State Bond Commission approved a $344,000 grant that will be released to the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut in New London. The funds will support the final phase of the Chamber's headquarters redevelopment in New London.

"Our entire region will benefit from the improved resources and available community support to the Chamber of Commerce and its New London headquarters made possible through this grant," said Sen. Martha Marx (D-New London) said in a statement. "This project has been underway for some time and this final phase will bring it to completion. I'm grateful to Governor Lamont and the State Bond Commission for their support."

The 92 Eugene O'Neill Drive location will house the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut's new headquarters as well as an innovation center and coworking space.

Chamber officials expect the center will create 100 jobs each year and 100 businesses over the next decade.

Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement: “The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut is a valuable partner in our efforts to grow business opportunities and jobs throughout the New London area, and I am glad that we could partner with them and support the redevelopment of their new headquarters."
