Superintendant Proposes Budget Hike for New London Schools
The plan was developed in response to a projected substantial jump in student enrollment.

NEW LONDON, CT - Due to staffing needs, an increase has been proposed in the fiscal year 2017-18 school budget, The Day reported.
School Superintendent Manuel Rivera presented the proposed budget hike this week to the Board of Education, according to The Day. His $69.7 million spending plan was developed in response to a projected jump in enrollment of 226 students to a total of 3,761.
The preliminary budget is hoped to compensate for the need for teachers to support the influx of students, The Day reported. Rivera’s budget is a $3.7 million increase over this year’s $66 million spending plan.
