The Big Picture, Asphalt Orchestra, and Easter Egg Hunt

This Week in New London, April 4-10

is dubbing its current roundup of upcoming events the “Big Picture Edition.” And why not? For the fifth year, the organization is inviting residents and visitors to come downtown to take part in a on . Over 250 people took part last year, and Main Street is hoping to beat that number this year. People interested in taking part should head to the Plaza for organization of the photo between 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Most of the big attractions this time around are in the art world. hosts a “Oneness Blessing” group meditation at 7 p.m. on Thursday, while welcomes James Coleman for their first Thursday poetry night at the same time. The has their free first Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a children’s mural making activity from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. has a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday to open , an exhibit of modern pinup paintings by artist Dee Whitcomb. Finally, TDP Art Studio has their from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., including a $15 small painting class at 2 p.m.

There’s much to see in the music world as well. Tonight, you can catch two of Gabrielle Kastelle’s Bonsai concerts; “The Not-So-Simple Gifts of Shaker Music” starts at 6 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. at the Violin Training Gymnasium at 300 State Street. The comes to ’s Palmer Auditorium at 8 p.m. on Thursday; tickets are $10 to $20. At , Sunny Morning La La performs their regular Sunday morning set at 10:30 a.m. while the Jazz Trio does their regular performance at 8 p.m.
