Two Car Crash Near Connecticut College in New London Prompts Medical Response

Both police and fire personnel responded to the scene of the reported accident.

NEW LONDON, CT – Police said a person was flown to the hospital after a bad crash near Connecticut College on Monday night.

Multiple 911 calls were received by the New London Emergency Communications Center at approximately 8:39 p.m. reporting a "head-on collision" between two vehicles near the entrance of Connecticut College on the southbound side of Route 32, according to a release.

Both police and fire personnel responded to the scene of the reported accident, and located a two-vehicle collision on the southbound side of the road.

Both drivers were trapped and had to be extracted by fire department personnel. One driver was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital by ambulance and the other operator was transported by Life Star to Hartford Hospital.

Police said both drivers remain under medical care and treatment. Police detectives are investigating the incident.

Route 32 Southbound between Benham Road in Waterford and Connecticut College was closed to all traffic for an extended period of time.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who may have information about the accident is asked to police immediately.
