Did you know that video conferencing can and will help reign in project timelines and help your employees do their job more effectively? Well it is true... What value does driving 2-3hrs to a customer meeting have when you can have an ad-hoc or easily scheduled video conference. 

Is this the death of face 2 face meetings? No... the way I see it is that it supports just in time communication needs with the added value of seeing the person on the other end, reading their body language and getting their attention. Face 2 face is still critical and video will always be secondary but can definitely give your company an immediate return on investment.

There are many options out out there including the low cost and free type (Skype, FaceTime) but one has to consider is this business class? is there help if I need it? is it free? Then there are "for pay" services and larger enterprise type solutions that have a larger CAPEX (investment). Most ideal and historically for large businesses with many offices. 

Calculate the cost of travel as one factor into deciding your ROI... How about the employee who is traveling? 1hr drive to a meeting (lost 1hr work) 1 hr meeting... 1hr drive home = 3hr minimum for a 1 hr meeting. How many of these meetings can an employee have each day, week?
