Group Home Employee Accused of Stealing from Special Needs Residents

A New Milford man who was an employee of a group home for people with special needs is accused of stealing from residents.

NEW MILFORD, CT-- A New Milford man is accused of stealing money from Wilton special needs residents whose money he was in charge of managing, according to a police report.

Police said that Willis Howell, 29, was an employee of a Wilton group home for people with special needs. According to police, Howell, a New Milford man, was arrested on March 17, 2016 after an investigation showed the man allegedly stole from the victims by submitting false receipts and invoices and then withdrawing funds from the patients' personal accounts.

Police said Howell also used employer issued credit cards issued to care for the residents for personal use.

He was arrested and charged with six counts of third degree forgery, three counts of second degree larceny and one count of fourth degree larceny.

Howell was released on $1,500 bond and given a court date of March 28, 2016.
